Divide & Rule: A Cautionary Tale

Mahatma Gandhi led the Indian Independence movement against British imperial rule and became known throughout the world for advocating non-violent civil disobedience.  India gained its independence, but at the cost of the division of the country into India and Pakistan (and later Bangladesh).  In this historic conversation which took place in Cairo, Egypt during the country's  turbulent post-revolution period  in 2012, Rajmohan Gandhi, historian, peace activist, and grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, tells a cautionary tale from India. He warns against movements and political forces that divide people, and stresses the need to work across all lines of difference for the common good of societies and the whole of humanity.
