Seeds of Change
Mohamed ElBaradei, Nobel Peace Laureate and former head of Egypt’s Constitution Party, talks about growing up in 1950s Egypt during the time of Gamal Abdel Nasser and the anti-colonial movements. He reflects on how his father, a lawyer and head of Egypt’s Bar Association, advocated for a fair and independent judiciary and planted the seeds for change in a country where the regime was becoming more centralized and dictatorial. During his return to Egypt (2009-2013), Mohamed ElBaradei also tried to plant the seeds for change in those striving for dignity and social justice.
